My experience: Everytime I pitched to someone they did not know what I was talking about. I will not mention my work but explain to them on paper form my skills which will achieve them their goals. You are like a mechanic.

It depends on who is hiring you and what for.
Some will value your blackhat skills over the white ones.
Adjust accordingly.
