Hi all, I have 2 websites on the same server.

Both in same niche.

How do you think Google will look at this?

That's fine. As long as you aren't playing any type of shenanigans, It is natural for website owners to link to other properties they own.

Not recommended but if the backlink your profile is huge a single link won't do much harm.
Avoid doing this in a pattern with multiple links.

i researched this a bit few years ago.
consensus was 50/50. seen decent evidence from some webmasters demonstrating it doesn't matter.
ultimately i chose to use multiple servers.
cost few bucks for peace of mind. just like condoms.

I have done this and haven't found any issue with it, I genuinely wanted to link to my site.

It really depends,
If you're referring to a single or couple of websites then it won't be a problem,

Do the websites have some more decent backlinks, authority, traffic, outbound links?
Are they spammy? are they within the same niche?

In most cases, it won't be a problem,
But, if you're linking 2 brand new crappy websites with copied content and other red flags, there you got a problem

It's a couple of websites, both high quality content with some authority etc. In same niche. Aged too....

Go for it, it won't be problem,
I did the same for 2 websites a while ago and it worked well,
Got 30-40% more traffic in both,
Sometimes they alternate the traffic drops and ups which i found strange, but the total traffic went up for sure,

I know a couple of guys doing so and claiming the top serps within a micro niche,
They're doing it with 8+ domains and were ranking for years

If you have a large enough link profile one link to a site on same server won't matter, but it will create a footprint. Do that more than once your risk profile increases.

This is what I was concerned about.

It's effectively a small PBN

If it's a small PBN and you have just a handful of links from your other sites, I personally would not do that.

Even those two websites on the same server both linking to a 3rd site hosted somewhere else is a footprint, but it's all about diversity, risk profile and numbers.

Google usually treats each website individually, but if you have two related sites on the same server, be cautious about possible issues like linking between them or duplicate content.

Linking to a website on the same server is possible, contingent on content quality and relevance. Ensure linked content adds value to users. Avoid low-quality or spammy sites to maintain credibility and positive SEO. Server location isn't crucial; focus on the quality and relevance of linked content.

From a human perspective, having two websites on the same server in the same niche is fine, as long as you maintain a focus on quality and uniqueness. Just ensure that each website offers valuable information and doesn't resort to any shady tactics like copying content or excessive cross-linking between them. In essence, it's about keeping both websites authentic and helpful to users.
