Hi guys today I want to write something that goes a bit beyond the usual (and useful) topics of marketing, methods, tools etc.

I happened to read in various books and hear in various courses, that in order to maintain consistent performance in work (I am referring to sales jobs both offline and online) you should sell something that you are passionate about, a user of and well versed in.

By selling I mean everything related to marketing and sales.

Have you ever experienced a time in your life when you didn't really know what you really liked to do and what was your passion that you would work for even if they didn't pay you?

What advice would you give if hypothetically, your closest friend was faced with such a situation, and asked you for advice to find out what is really a passion of his that he could monetize in some way, without getting tired and working unwillingly after a few months?

When I was younger, I took an apprenticeship at a recording studio because it helped me learn music production at the level I wanted, without needing to pay for the degree. In a way, I worked for free, but I saved a lot of money on education that otherwise I couldn't afford, and had a great time.

When I just started as a PPC specialist, I did some work for free to gather experience. This gave me a huge edge over other entry level PPC guys that competed with me on jobs.

You can call it 'free' but I gained a lot from it.

Once something earns you money, there's enough motivation to keep going
Passion is overrated
The desire for wealth counts as passion, isn't it?
Not sure if it falls under the definition of passion or drive.

do something your passionate about is overated. if you have one that is great.
but not everyone will have it. it's like not everyone born in rich family. example you have blog project, do you feel pasionate writing? yes good, how about marketing? web design? research? finding community ? there are a lot of worktype you need to be done for the project to run. and a lot of those is even something you find boring hence the grind. In the end the one that will motivate you the most, is when you put the effort and got the reward that you feel you deserve.

My suggestion is, now see your circumstance skill/experience,need, resource. than do the one that make more sense to you. if you are self employe or have your own project, don't mention work for free, a lot of time i work and i lose money. how? experiment on tools, ads, testing method, etc.

Passion is short-lived if there is no money at the end. If you have a regular passive income, you can do a lot of unpaid work to give meaning to your life. For example, wealthy businessmen do charity work when they gain financial freedom.

It depends. If something takes less than 15mins to complete, I wouldn’t charge my existing clients for doing it. Or may be someone here is in some trouble and asks politely, I probably would do it for free.

Other than that, nope!

Remember, if you are good in something, don’t do it for free. Charge for it and do your best.

For some people, I do the work for free. Like if someone needs a specific service of mine and his payment method is not possible, I do it for free for him sometimes. Depends on lot of factors like his tone of asking in the email.

How 2 attract the ladies dear?

Also charge them accordingly. Don't undervalue yourself & your skills.

Charging is a must... But some few other times there need to be a consideration... Working for free is not free... You are trading your time in exchange for something you deem more valuable; experience. Hence it is relative...

This is true....

Starving artist springs to mind......

Usually, that's the first sign that the course/book is a bunch of BS that comes from someone who is just have no idea about niche/market research which is one of the hardest skills to acquire, so they just shout : "Do what you Love".

As for the work for free till you get experience, that's something I did myself & I advise anyone who just started to pursue that, although it's hard nowadays to find someone online to trust you enough even for that.

The first skill that needs to be developed then is market research? That is, finding the hungry crowd for something? Can you elaborate on that?

If you know how to do market research, you'll be able to test ideas on Interests & domains that aren't your passion, and come up with decision on whether to pursue that or not, so you save yourself a lot of time.
