Would you consider link relevancy important

I have been doing some reading about the topic and they all say that link relevancy is important but not a 'must' as in your backlinks dont have to originate from relevant domains and pages, but they help a lot. I'm in the porn business and from what I see, people place links from hacked websites and occasionally buy porn pbn posts to keep their backlink profile relevant. I may be suffering from something like this right now as I have very high DA backlinks which are not relevant at all, so google may just be not putting me higher up the ranks as there are no relevant backlinks. Would you people say it would be something like a bonus to have them, or would not having them get you penalised. I am afraid of the latter. Would anybody drop experiences as to what they know about it.

First of all backlink is needed. if your domain/website has no backlink then build good backlinks. Then you should consider relevant links that should related to your niche. Relevant links gives your website more authority by google.

well I do have many backlinks, it's just that none of them are really relevant lmao

okay, then you should find some niche related links , it will give authority to your website and will rank keywords fast in comparison of irrelevant links.

I changed the question bro. Do you know if it is just a BONUS or is it something that will get you, say penalised? I think I should purchase some porn PBNs as everyone cant be doing it for no reason but would like to know about this particular issue. Thanks

Relevancy is a strong factor, and definitely carries more weight. Generally you would want the link to be relevant to the content on the page that is linking to you. Else over time you may see a negative effect, as they're probably seen as low quality, out of place, spammy.

Here is an analogy.. Think about it as a personal referral..

If you have a mechanic who is fixing your car for years, but you have an issue that he cant fix, and he recommends you to another mechanic who can handle your issue. You'd trust his referral right?

Think about the referral as a backlink.

Translate this to the web, if you have a mechanic website, backlinks from other mechanics or an authority in the space they will likely carry more weight.

Relevancy is super important... but if you’re in the adult niche, which is super spammy, I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
