Let's say you're in the crypto niche or the gaming niche, and you target the following keywords:

For the crypto niche: "How To Buy X coin - step by step guide"

For the gaming niche: "How To Buy X game cheaper - step by step guide"

Now, in both niches, the step-by-step guide is the exact same for every coin/game, so you can't do anything but copy it.

So, which option would you choose:

----------------------
Option A
----------------------
The article will look like this:

Part of the article about the coin/game - 600 words
The step-by-step guide: 1000 words

Total word count per article - 1600 words.

Pros:
  • High word count.
  • Easier to follow for the reader.
  • More space to put ads/affiliate codes in.
Cons:
  • You copy-paste the exact same step-by-step guide for every article, which can be seen as duplicated content. (Especially when you post 2-3 articles/day)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------
Option B
----------------------
The article will look like this:

Part of the article about the coin/game - 600 words
Mini step-by-step guide: 300 words

Total word count per article: 900 words

Then, after the mini step-by-step guide, link to a full step-by-step buying guide article on your website.

Pros:
  • 70% of the article is no longer copy-pasted, so it won't be seen as duplicated content.
  • It looks a lot cleaner.
Cons:
  • Lower word count.
  • Harder to follow since the users have to go to yet another step-by-step guide in order to fully learn how to buy x coin/x game.
  • Less space to put ads/affiliate codes in.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

So, BHWers, what option would you choose?

Option A with great word count per article but the chance it'll be seen as duplicated content or option B which has a much lower word count per article but can't be seen as duplicated content?

Would you rather one bird in the hand or two in the bush?
Not that the saying matches exactly this case, but you get the point. Lets not be greedy.

Option B

I would go with option B

It won't be seen as duplicate content if the content is different... It's just a layout - Google won't hit you if the layout if the same but the content is actually different.

Option A is fine. Option B is good for interlinking to a more informative article/silos in my opinion.

In option A the 1000 words step-by-step guide won't be any different from the other articles, it'll be just copy-pasted.

So it isn't really the layout of the website, but ~60% of the article is straight-up copy paste.

Here's an example in the crypto niche:
Code:
https://getcrypto.info/

In every article only ~200 words are different (the ones about the article), but the rest of the article (the guides part) is exactly the same.

Now, this website seems to be doing fine, even though 90% of the content is the exact same for every article, but other websites such as this one
Code:
https://cryptobuyguy.com/
seem to have taken a hit as shown in the screenshot below.

Now the problem is that I don't know why the second website took a big hit, but something tells me is because Google sees the guides as duplicated content.

The first website, even though it is doing better than the second one, also seems to fall rapidly, as shown in the screenshot below.

This is why I have doubts about it.

What do you think?

Why not just make the Step by step guide a separate article with amazing information (the one that would be the same in every article) - I know it's similar to what you said for Option B, but this is how I would probably do it in that case.

1. Write a big Step-by-step guide (make it very detailed, pictures, examples, everything you can think of that people would question - look at google for questions people ask and answer those in that guide as ridiculous as they sound)

2. Make a different article about the game or coin with a bunch of information on it and the methods people can get it and mention/interlink your step by step guide on how to achieve it. Just fill it with good info. (see what other sites are writing about it if you need filler content + answer questions about those specific coins/games + talk about the game itself or what the coin does or accomplishes)

3. I think only having 200 words different per topic is pretty lazy, like can you even get people intrigued or into what you're doing if that's all you change? (I originally thought you were just copying layouts but with different information)

Hope this makes sense?

This is exactly what I was thinking about.

The higher word count of option A is intriguing but also it seems a little bit too sketchy to not attract a Google penalty.

I think I'll just go for option B, sounds a lot better in the long run.

Thank you!
