would we ever go to mars?

It's not habitable and that won't change ever. You can't build human colonies on a planet that doesn't support human life, no matter how technologically advanced you are. We'll just go to the planet for limited duration missions, imo.

There are still places where people don't have food to eat rather we are investing billions to plant tree on MARS. This is ridiculous to me.

do you believe elon musk when he says he will put people on mars by 2050? coz me I don't really think so
Everything is moving..and they may just be more discoveries

The military has many information not open to civilians
Maybe ..just maybe they already know that mars will support life and transportation to that location would just take a day

It may very well be. Prediction the future is always difficult. 2050 may be in reach but prioritization is paramount, otherwise much may not happen.

Maybe? Elon’s crazy enough to pull it off. Starship’s progressing faster than old school NASA ever could. If anyone’s gonna brute force a Mars colony, it’s him lol

I don't know, I just wish they leave Mars alone, we already fucked one planet, it's enough

first few that would go would never return.
I do want to go to mars, and smoke a fat joint while looking at the Demios and Phobos, that reflect the light of distant Sun.
I want to believe that we will find a way how to colonise mars, make the atmoshpere present and breathable.

Thats so true. but investing there will only benefit the rich people. Actually there is happening something for the rich only.
And how would the rich benefit of a dirt planet? It's not like our planet will be uninhabitable in the next few hundred years. Let's assume there would be shitloads of rare materials, the cost to get it back to earth would exceed the value by a lot. Our planet will be far more comfortable for the next thousand and thousand of years.

like @medialounge said, we don't know a lot of thing that the military or rich know. May be MARS is a great place to live but we are masked.

Yes, but imagine what contribution it will make by 2050. Maybe it will want to change other industries
True, the “PayPal mafia” is a great example of how ambitious visionaries can disrupt multiple industries. If that same drive is applied to space tech, it could push Mars exploration further than most expect.
