Hi,

I am thinking of offering to create websites for people at a low fee... in exchange for adding a link to a website that I want links to.

For example, I offer to make a website for a small time car sales guy and then put a link to my website selling tires or other car-related products on the website.

Would the link back work? Would I get added exposure if they then post their website on the internet?

I am just wondering if there would be a drawback to this method.

Many thanks in advance

why would they allow you to be a competitor? they could get the link removed after you give them the site at a low price though and nothing you could do about it

link exchange is old days sorry .

unless your a web2.0 and well up there your be lucky to earn 5p a day.

sorry old 1995 tricks

i've seen people do this and it does work. i've heard of people getting penalized for overdoing it though

the best way is to get a low keyword with heigh monthly search hit the top of google then sell links, proper way

keyword must be of a worvy niche to get intrest

Yes, in theory you can get authority from links that you put on sites that you've developed or otherwise worked on for clients. IIRC, @Zwielicht mentioned that he has done things like gotten entries on his clients' Staff pages or so on with a link back to his site.

Only thing is that this is only practical if you're already working on their site for a different reason. It's the icing on the cake, not the cake. If you're doing $700 worth of web development or SEO work and your client's fine with having a short bio on their site or similar, great. But building an entire site for them is a huge commitment to get one link. Especially considering that their site is (presumably) on a brand new domain that has no authority. If you want links through this type of method, you're better off finding expired domains and building out your own PBNs.

Thank you for the replies. It is pretty easy for me to make a simple website for them. They wouldn't be competitors... eg build websites for massage girls, then selling massage oil on my website. I already have the product so it is not Adsense.
I guess I shouldn't do it if there is a high chance of getting penalise though.
