I've been hit by each major Google update the last year. I've lost my income online completely.

So I decided to start all over again. Only this time I'm tired of spinning.

I've read a lot and am experienced when it comes to link pyramids and I'm thinking of trying out something a bit more basic than the usual link pyramid of today.

How about this: creating 10 web 2.0's filled with unique content. I'm talking not even a single word spun. Just 10 different web 2.0's filled with good, useful content. And then, obviously, point a link to my site. That's it.

Has anyone tried this? Basically, getting relevant links from web 2.0's with unique content and NOT blasting them :)

While building web 2.0 links is good,it is advisable you create a variety of different links.
Only web 2.0 links will get you no where :)
 
2.0's on their own, with no 2nd/3rd tier links, are very limited in what they can do. You really need to juice them...

Use your original content on the 2.0's and then spin that to use content-based links for the 2nd tier, and then build a 3rd tier to them to help indexation and increase their juice.

And of course, 2.0's on their own (as the direct-links) will look manipulated, so you'll need diversity of link-type from other sources.
 
Might also be wise to create a 3-paged Web 2.0 to increase the stick rate as apposed to a 1-paged Web 2.0 blog. I've tested this by creating a handful of 3-paged Web 2.0 blogs with 100% copied content on websites such as wordpress and they are still up and running. :)

You said, "diversify of link-type from other sources." In other words what you mean is having links pointing to other sites other than the one that he is trying to rank for, correct?
 
You can also have a look under the recommended seo service providers under BST... They normally give you and indication of the type of links they use. U could either copy their strategy or simply pay them to do it for you... I prefer paying someone and scaling more profitable opportunities!

The thing is, I'm broke. I don't really have any more money to spend on captchas or SEO services. I need to do all this from rock bottom, without spending a single penny. Possible?

Also, what tool do you recommend I use to blast my web 2.0's?

It's better to create 3 web 2.0's for tier1, 3 for tier 2, 3 for tier 3, and add some backlinks from scrapebox or something but filter out OBL+50 and <PR1 :)

use onlywire.com for some social networks links.

Anyway, sorry to hear about the google updates, thoose can be a b*tch. If i would start all over again I would give Pinterest a real shoot. I'm getting about 300-500 visitors /day from Pinterest using ***** pinner. Really easy and effective. I would build 5-10 sites from 5-10 different niches and use 5-10 different pinterest account. Then just go crazy, I'll bet you have your first sale within a week.
 
Yes, this is a good start. Don't forget to add them contact, privacy and about pages. For blogs it's better to put 3 articles on them, like one 200 words one 300 words and one 500 words but don't write them all 3 on the same keyword. Write one in the same niche but don't use your keyword. Do your backlinking to the domain not the blog post, like this: keyword(or a name).wordpress.com not keyword(or a name).wordpress.com/blog-post-title.
