would it hurt to make a .cctld (like .it, .de) that does not have the same content as the .com

So I have posted earlier about translating my "company.com" website. I want to start with "company.de", of course the same logo's (and url) will be used, but the content will be different (though same topic) also we will only put like 5/100 products on this website.

Would this hurt my company? would making a new brandname be better? for example "www.anothercompany.de"?

This is always an interesting topic...
Some brands choose to have different tlds which might be a good idea if you would really like to have a local precense... In many countries you will really see the local tld sites rank best and it seems that Google gives extra preference to these tlds...

Also in some countries like Germany you might see people who really prefer to buy from a website which seems to be German...

If you think of pure linkjuice... 1 branded domain with just subdirectories for other languages would be easiest and cheapest way maybe...

I would prefer a local tld for local versions of branded sites if you would like to seriously target the local market...

Still you should be aware that the costs will rise...
For each website you really need to create it as a kind of seperate store with different content otherwise you get duplicate content issues...
Also you need to have seperate linkbuilding for each domain which might get quite expensive...
Still I think it's worth it if you would like to have serious local presence...

This shouldn't cause any problems, the domains are totally separate even if they do hold the same names with different TLDs,
You can link them to each other or use hreflangs to keep both within the same boat, WPML does have the option for this,
It could make things better, but not required tho
