Would Free Comcast be against TOS?

If I posted on how to get yourself free Comcast internet if you already have cable would that be against the rules of this site? It would shave $50-$60 a month off of marketing expenses.

I discovered it when my upstairs room mate did not pay the cable bill and they shut of the internet and digital cable but had not yet come over to turn off the hard line basic cable. Works for anyone with Comcast. After I discovered the simple loophole in their system we canceled our internet and haven't paid a dime for high speed cable in 1 3/4 of a year. Works for my friends that have tried it. -Carmex

Right, I understand the Hard vs Soft Disconnect. I tried to make that clear in my post. This has nothing to do with it, it just happened to be how/why I discovered it. Necessity being the mother of invention and all that.

They most certainly cut off the cable internet. I then found a work around, and after my roomie paid up, we had all services for a month, then we canceled just the internet service to see if the workaround still functioned.


It did. My parents now get free internet at their house using the same trick, they canceled their high speed and still had reg. cable, and I worked my magic, and presto, free internet. I have shared with a few friends around town and it is working for them as well. It is a stunningly simple fix, almost to the point of incredulity. My only worry is that if too many people get in on it they might fix the problem. But then I remember that it is Comcast haha. -Carmex
 
Would this also work for Time Warner Cable then? Because they own Comcast...
 
Their is some kind of method as I am usually weary of such things but have seen with my own eyes my friend who has comcast and gets something like 20mbps cable connection for free every month and he doesnt subscribe to cable. He has had it for well over a year now so I believe their is a work around.
 
well if you have the method to get free comcast, do you mind sharing? I'm interested to learn as I'm using comcast at home, too. Although I'm not sure if I'm able to use your technique to get free cable and internet, though.

currently I have all three cable, internet, and phone with them. Hate it because they tend to be more expensive than others but still have to stay on.
 
I know you can buy certain modems in hack them...but if there is a easier way...would be nice to know

Regarding these posts, it is not free cable, just the internet, you need to have a live cable to get it. It is not a modem hack, just a simple software change.

Also I will not send out info in PM form unless authorized to do so. I really like this site and I will not take a chance on breaking the TOS.

I bought a pre-modded Motorola Surfboard modem years back and it is still working today to get free Internet via Comcast. You can easily change the modem's MAC and Serial number and try out various speed configuration files. Only minor change required was to set my DNS servers to use something outside of Comcast's DNS.

Works great for now, but not sute what is going to happen when DOCSIS 3.0 is all over the Comcast network.
 
if it really works ud be a fucking idiot for sharing. reveal it its gone for everyone, or just keep it for yourself

Yes, but what if you had the MAC address of another user who was paying for an account and could change the MAC on your cable modem to match theirs?

Then how do the pre-modded cable modems that are sold work? From what I
understood you were supposed to get a MAC from across town and put that
into you modded modem and then you were good to go?
 
Actually i know people who have free comcast connections and it doesn't even involve changing the MAC address to even get online. All you need is the TFTP Ip address and the name of a valid config file.
 
lol u guys are on the wrong forum to be discussing this, I happen to be Well Versed in this area

1 - U CAN and EASILY reflash Cable Company modems, sometimes without even taking them apart

2 - Comcast and other US service providers DONT require a Mac change to get free internet, as someone mentioned it is to do with config/tftp

3 - if you are in US each provider has different method, for example i think Time Warner you Mac Clone, Rogers you need to get Perfect Clone (not easy) and Comcast no need to clone


On a serious note I dont think its worth anyone posting this info here, but rather point people to the Cable Hacking forums, as you can see already people are chiming in with plenty of misinformation (no offence meant fellas)

Mate sorry, but you are misinformed.

being someone who works for them this is the kind of thing you would be told, so its not your fault.

but seriously, the things that people like Rajkosto have implemented into their BCM3349 based firmware makes many thing possible that you as technician wouldnt be aware of.

i know exactly which forum you are talking about mentioning Rajkosto. I'm a member there as well and am also well versed in this subject and you're right, some people are misinformed about how easy this really is.
 
Could someone tell me what forum would have this information? I've tried doing a search on these forums as well as Google but only found BS.
