would forum spam link building hurt the site?

I want to promote the following sites:
charitywater org
kickstart org
everychild.gavialliance org
in a forum spam way posting the same text in more than 500 forums. But would this harm their position in google?

Yes and no. If just plastering a bunch of links to a site hurt 100% then we would all be playing a :fight:game with our competitors back and forth of who can destroy each other. Google is smarter than that. Yes, because it could hurt you because you would be waisting your time doing that particular kind of linking because it's not going to really help you achieve what we are all after and that is higher rankings. You need to try and do more fluid and natural linking. Doing forum linking I think is fine but you need to use random emails, random post, random anchor text, etc.. Google is smart enough to know and spot 500 exact same links going to any particular domain. Hope this helps some. Keep reading and testing.

but i'm not doing it for link building.. i'm doing it for generating traffic because people read the posts and then go to the websites

If you post the exact same text, it can hurt your sites. Write a short forum post, than use {|} syntax to spin it. Spin the anchor text of the link as well. This way you will get a somewhat unique post every time.
