Yeah that's how the make the very large majority of their income, they might have some little side income streams but they are unknown to me. After looking it up Facebook claimed 300 million in earnings in 08, since they've been growing since it's likely to be much higher.

I was thinking that same thing! Who would stay if they had to pay when there are soooo many more social networks out there....including, coming soon to a network near you, ShoogaCube.com (shameless plug)!
Why the hell is this thread up here? FB is not going to charge money; this is basically a rumor set up by people like us to get people to join FB groups.
How the hell is a person in Bangladesh going to pay 3.99 a month? What is FB going to do, feature different currencies based on the how much people make in each country? Outside of US & Europe, they would probably lose money. What are you going to charge someone in Pakistan? 30 Rupees ( Ie: 40 cents US ) per month?

Guys, let me say two things:
1. Groups that say "We will not pay $3.99/$4.99/$xxx for Facebook" are bull.
2. Facebook could get away with charging for their website. They would simply set up a free and a paid model. Don't believe me? Check out the Playstation Network model changes rumored in 2010 for a very clear example of a free service offering a "premium" subscription.

You are aware that them "selling users data" is them providing targeted ads via demographics on their own site right?
