i got a google verification code on my gmail, it was requested, below is the exact email

Dear Google User, We received a request to access your Google Account 0xxx xxxxxx through your email address.

how did this happen, i never requested it and btw this no is used on my smart phone as well

Old databases get leaked all the time, some bot is testing out whatever passwords they can find.

If it's not you, ignore the email and don't confirm anything.

Also, go to the devices logged into your google account to check and remove devices that are not you.

It probably came from a data breach, and someone is testing it at scale. If you got that email and it wasn’t you, don’t even look at it—delete it.

Also, tools like Bitwarden or NordVPN own [NordPass] include a small utility that scans all your passwords to see if they’ve been affected by any Dark Web leak. Sometimes it’s worth spending a few dollars a month for this stuff.

That email shows an attempted login where your address was entered, Google sends a verification code to confirm it’s really you. If you didn’t request it, someone else did. Don’t share the code with anyone, enable 2-factor authentication, and review your account security. As long as you don’t give the code away, they can’t get in.

It likely means someone tried to access your account. If it wasn’t you, change your password immediately and enable 2FA to secure your account

I have also received verification codes without asking for them. Usually someone tried to log in to your account by mistake, but if you don’t enter the code they won’t get in, just keep 2FA secure and you’ll be fine.
