Worried about YouTube and Copyright

Hi Guys,

I am relatively new to this, however I had an interesting idea of making an automated process to get targeted visitors to various sites via youtube and also earn some pennies with adsense.

My idea is to automatically download many photos from various eBay listings, then process them into short slideshows and then upload to youtube.

For instance, one area could be designer clothes, as there are hundreds of listings and thousands of photos on eBay at any one time.

However I am worried if one of the sellers may take me to court for using pictures without permission in the slideshows.

Is there any danger of getting into serious trouble over copyright with this method.

I estimated that I can make a bot which will process and upload around 500 videos / 24hrs.

Running fully automatic.

Please someone with experience reply and give advice.

No, you wont get copyright issues with clothes photos.

Thats what I think.

No copyright problems but youtube will ban you I have tried it. And competitors will flag you

The ban would come from which reason:
- Because of the use of images that are not his?
- Because he is uploading too many videos in a short amount of time?

People can just flag you like crazy and get you banned for just about anything. I've had videos of me just talking get flagged for violence and taken down/my account banned. I literally was just sitting there talking lol

Properly not, unsafe! especially you are going to monetize your YT account via adsense.

But this way my videos will not be copies of other videos. They would be unique, therefore less risk?

Also if I upload 20-30 per day and slowly ramp up, would it be safer?

And nobody yet discussed if there is any real danger of being taken to court, anyone know of similar stories from the past?

Did you appeal the flag though? YT gets real people to review the appeals so if you were flagged for violence and you were just talking, they would have removed the flag.

I very much doubt anyone would care about clothing pictures if there are no people wearing them.

The chances are not that high that someone who owns the pictures would even see your videos.

If the titles of the videos are about clothing, then I don't see why people would flag them down if that is what the video is about.

My plan would be to make the title of the video same as that of the auction.

Therefore pictures and the title would match logically. Hopefully making the video less spammy looking.

Only problem is that some items on eBay, people do take actual pictures of themselves and you can see the faces. And I doubt that I have skills enough to make a bot which would recognize that. My bot will just process all the auctions of certain keyword or category.

However nobody said anything about there being a danger of getting taken to court?


Is there danger of being sued for taking pictures from eBay auctions and making slideshows of them for youtube?


For instance there was this story once, a girl posted a photo of a dress and did not realize she was seen in a reflection in that photo.


The photo went all over the internet!


If you google this line "Girl posts knickerless photo on eBay" you will see the story I am talking about.
