If you want to do i manually i would recommend hostgator if your starting out.

Autoinstall trough fantastico.

Give HostGator or StableHost a try.

hawkhost is also good one, very fast but it has montly badwith of 45gb... which is much more than i would ever need.

I gotta come in here and mention how awesome hostwinds is, I would love to give you some help in any way that I can shoot me a PM, even if you dont host with us, I can give you some free advice as to what to look for, and what your needs are going to be based on the growth plan for your business

For wordpress, I would suggest Justhost. they are damn cheap, with great quality. Just renewed my account again last day, and it is just 40 Singapore dollars. like $30 for a year ;)

Their affiliate system is great too. $60 per referral ;)

+1 for HawkHost.
Have used them and the quality of their shared servers are excellent.

They also have an offshoot which oversells unlimited accounts called FrogHost.

I'm currently using a company called LevelHosting which has been quite responsive and very good support wise.
I put in a pre-purchase ticket asking a couple questions.
They answered and even after I purchased they updated again thanking me for the purchase. Good guys.
I also got a crazy good coupon code for their service :-P

OP is asking about worldpress.

Sorry OP we all are new to it. :P

Well for wordpress i'd go for baby hostgator.

Hostgator obviously. Today i upgrading my plan to reseller,,,, waiting to see how can i make by it ;) But configure a new host is very hard.

drop me a pm if you want just some hosting for wordpress i have enough room on my server and have one click installs in cpanel for wordpress.

I dont recommend Hostgator for wordpress sites.

Google about it and you can see a hell lot of people complaining that HG acts weird and takes a heavy load time for their wordpress sites.

All other stuffs works pretty well though. You dont have to believe me, google about it, read what other people wrote, and act according to that. I signed up for 1 year baby plan, and requested refunds in 2 weeks.HG sucks for Wordpress.

For multiple wordpress sites, hostgator offers a reseller plan with WHMCS. Super simple to register new accounts under your reseller account, log into their cpanel, and install WordPress. Hook it up to a domain reseller API, and get $8.75 .com's. Super simple, it just takes some time to configure initially.

I want to suggest you for BlueHost or DreamHost both are good for wordpress blogs. Wordpress is promoting both sites under their hosting category. I have been used BlueHost and there is lots of positive feedback for DreamHost as well. So, you can choose any host.

I was going to start a service offering wordpress hosting - no ftp/shell or anything like that, just straight access to wordpress admin, but done very cheaply on a per site per year basis.
I thought it might suit noobs that don't have a hosting account etc??
