Hey

I'm curious what you guys like about WP and what you hate about it. Make a list for both and give as much details you wish. Ideally, order the list by how important that thing is for you (how much you like it and how much you hate it).

I'm really curious what people like and hate about WP. Personally I think is a piece of crap but easy to setup and use for simple sites. But it is very popular and I've always been curious what people like and hate about it.

Thanks

I don't hate anything.

The only thing I had problems with is using rewrite rules for custom taxonomies. Besides that, I enjoy developing WP themes/plugins :)

I hate that it's so easy to use that 95% of wordpress sites are made by bums who think they can put up a 5 page illiterate piece of crap and think they will dominate google..for anyone that realises they might actually have to do a bit of work to have a decent site it is an awesome piece of software with hundreds of out of the box solutions to problems .

people who learn to use it correctly can craft an excellent website and people like me don't have to spec out sites to coders anymore then wait three months just to get a landing page.

Can't really say I hate anything about it, its super easy to use even for someone who doesn't know any coding, yet very flexible to the point where you can customize anything you want and still have thousands upon thousands of plug-ins available that someone already put a ton of work in that you can reuse.

no cons here it pretty much have all the plugin that i can think or get one made.

The only thing I hate about WP is that sometimes there is some kind of 'bug' that makes it 'impossible' to change the homepage of WP, though in the setting we can choose whether to choose 'latest post' or 'fixed page' as the homepage. It just doesn't work. It happened to me yesterday and eventually I had to remove my WP & reinstalled it. Really really annoying!!

The things I love about WP is the plugins! They really help me a lot!! :-) And it is also easy to manage compared to other CMS, such as Joomla or Drupal.

I honestly don't understand this. WP is a content management system, it exists so that you can have a convenient way to update your site. Any issues you have with it beyond that is generally your own fault. You can shape WP into any type of site you want, but if you're limited by your coding knowledge to just setting up boxed themes, of course you may be frustrated when you can't do something. It only took me a week to learn enough to make my own themes from scratch and my site is much faster than when I was using a framework.

I can make a simple theme in 4-6 hours. I built super-advanced themes in WP that use custom taxonomies, custom post types, post asociations, etc. However, WP is still crap. It is crap by default and it is crap as an architecture. What I dislike most about it though is that it is extremely slow considering how few things it does. Dozens of SQL queries most of which would not be needed if it had better architecture. Then it is slow as fuck because of the PHP part. It is actually as slow as Drupal but only does about 10% of what drupal does in that time. Of course, Drupal is like 100 times more difficult to learn and intricate and with dependencies, etc. And don't even get me started on the fact it has footprints so anybody can figure out the site runs on WP which I personally have a problem with for both SEO and security.

The thing that I hate about it is, it has so many obvious footprints that if you do not disable comments it is only a matter of days before you start getting spammed with comments, apart from that I am happy enough with the functionality

super easy to use: i built a site within a couple hours as a total noob.

problem is, it doesnt seem to be very customizable

Go develop the perfect CMS that succeeds where WP has failed... and someone will be happy to tell you how crappy it is.

there is nothing in wordpress which you hate because in wordpress you will have everything and by updates new features will be adding from time to time

Most people like it becuase its simplicity. But I have a question, if you dont like wordpres, then what would you use? Other than custom CMS that is.

I do wordpress only hosting platform, I love wordpress and develop over 50+ websites, however my biggest concern is not wordpress but third party plugins. most third-party plugins has lot of security issues.

Wordpress has a lot of security issues, period.

Pro - It is beyond easy to use.

Cons - It is beyond easy to use.

Although I am not experienced in web development of any kind and my website falls under this catagory - You can usually tell its a wordpress site the moment you hit it!

I like it's simplicity.

On the other hand, i hate it's chaos regarding the plugins - i newer know where to look for settings for a certain plugin.
It puts it everywhere on the dashboard, so i hope they'll address that issue in some future updates.
