Hey all, what is the consensus here with Wordpress sites versus DYI sites. I can build sites via Dreamweaver, though, not nearly as sharp and "2.0" as some WP themes, and I can do all the basic in page SEO stuff. So at the end of the day, what is better for SEO and search engines? Wordpress or a DIY site via Dreamweaver? I know wordpress has more plugins for SEO and stuff, is there a clear cut advantage/disadvantage when it comes to SEO with these two site types?

You have more control over on-site SEO with a DIY site, however it doesn't matter which you use. It's not the platform you use that matters but how you optimize the site.

WordPress is a well known professional platform and it is a terrific resource for DIY site owners.

Wordpress because :
1. you can find tons of themes and plugins to customize and developing it free/paid easily .
2.you don't need to worry about updating it .
3. faster to set up and it's free .
4.people familiar with WP platform rather than other platforms .

WordPress is not a professional at all, what a stupid joke. It goes OK newbies who don't get more than 1 visitor per day, but I had clients who had level 6,7 vps once they get some traffic and paid a lot for speed optimization just for a text editor and some meta-tags and boxes.

These guys must be doing it wrong: http://en.wordpress.com/notable-users/

As for WYSIWYG vs WP, why would you want to use DW, it's slow and bulky to upload every change. Wordpress is much better than DW IMO.
