WordPress vs. Reddit

Is it better to blog using wordpress or have a subreddit where people can post comments but only you can post? Which is easier to find and rank? I find that most people in one of my niches uses primarily Reddit. I tried using Reddit but failed miserably doing the same thing as they did and yet they have thousands of followers. I'm thinking their subreddit followers actually came from YouTube and not Reddit searches.

Think of the subreddit as a twitter account or a facebook page, it’s complementary to your blog, not its own thing. Ultimately the only thing that you own is your blog (domain name and content).

Naturally, it's easier to rank posts on reddit because of its domain authority.
The problem is that reddit can take your subreddit any time or ban you whereas a WP blog would belong to you.

Definitely a blog

You do not have that much control in case of reddit.
