Wordpress vs Drupal ??

wordpress is easier to use. many options modules for payment. awesome themes to choose from. plus other goodies. as for drupal, its harder to customise yourself unless your geek

Wordpress is better than Drupal for many reasons.... the most important is that the community of developers and deigners behind wordpress is huge, so wordpress and plugins are often updated
 
Like the most people here I will give me voice for Wordpress. Its depends of your needs, but in most cases Wordpress will be the right choice.
 
Wordpress is the best way to go if you do not have any coding skills. It's cheaper as well.

1> Wordpress is easy to install then drupal..


2> There are more features in wordpress compare to drupal..


3> Wordpress is easy to customise then drupal..


4> Tech support is good in wordpress compare to drupal


5> Search functions are more in wordpress compare to drupal


6> Themes availability are more in wordpress compare to drupal


7> SEO options are more in wordpress compare to drupal..

I to agree with the choice of Wordpress and it being the better option over drupal. With the right guidance a kid can run it!
 
the amount of plugins and themes available for wordpress means for me it outweighs using drupal

Although you are right for what the op's purpose is for the cms, you should add 'out of the box' to these points.

Drupal has a (much) higher learning curve but for points 2, 4, 5, 6 & 7 it's actually the other way around, if you know what you're doing.
Drupal has the potential to make any website you want.

Out of the box it's not quite what you want, but the options are endless. I see it more as a cms-framework crossover.

But for someone starting his first site without any backend, frontend, theming and infrastructure knowledge, wordpress is definitely the way to go.
 
Drupal is awesome if you know what you are doing. If you are new to web development, stick to WP, else go for drupal obviously.

I see your demonstration of interests in both CMS. Frankly speaking, if you are quite alright with a simple CMS to work with, wordpress is a very good system for you. Based on your knowledge, Drupal is an advanced form of CMS system which definitely requires much efforts in both designs and navigation.

Drupal is the right choice for you.

As in every job it depends what job you are trying to accomplish. In life sometimes a regular hammer will do the job, and sledge hammer will be overkill.
Wordpress is pretty okay script for masses, it's not ideally written script, but there are a lot of plugins and themes available for it. Comparing to Drupal there is not big learning curve requiring for it for custom development.
But it you are looking to customize a lot site then go with Drupal, or even create your own CMS. You can consider some PHP frameworks like Yii, Code Igniter, CakePHP etc.
 
Drupal is the platform used by many old big companies. I have used Drupal earlier. The problem with drupal is it has only a few free themes and plugins
Wordpress on the other hand has a lot of stuff to playaround with and I also found my Drupal site hacked twice
I would vote for wordpress
 
Won't change my decision :)

According to OP, it seems that he has knowledge in programming and in short, Drupal has the potential to bring forth the most competent website!
 
Not sure how many of you guys have used drupal for their projects. I can see so many bullshit replies here for sure. LOL. Drupal is awesome and more secure than Wordpress. Don't just say WP is better because you haven't used the other one.
 
I think you should go for Wordpress.
There are number of ways in which Wordpress is far better than Drupal, start from Installing to number of Features to Compatibility to Tech Support to Availability of Themes and many more...

Drupal FTW, i much rather use Drupal than WordPress. Security always seems the biggest issue with WordPress.
