Basic:
- $2,500/month
- 1 business day response time

Premium:
- $6,250/month
- 12 hour response time

The prices and the response times look reasonable. Not sure whether to buy or not?

[SARCASM OFF]

WTF I just saw?

Presumably this would be for very large scale corporate websites running using the Wordpress CMS (and probably a heavily adapted version), considering the traffic of some of those websites the prices seem reasonable.

Enterprise level software as a service ain't cheap.

latimes.com is hosted with them, according to Alexa: Very Slow (3.518 Seconds), 87% of sites are faster.
techcrunch.com is hosted with them as well, and according to Alexa: Very Slow (3.475 Seconds), 87% of sites are faster.

For that money I would expect something extraordinary, yet all they offer is standard dedi package at inflated price and very slow response times?

It's not a standard dedicated server package at all. They 100% manage, optimize and scale your entire infrastructure to an unlimited number of page views. It's sooo much more than a linux box and a one click wp install w/ some plugins. It's not even fair to compare it to standard dedicated hosting.

You might think it's over priced (and it may very well be), but the fact is, corporate publishers often choose this sort of solution as an alternative to having to hire a full time team of web developers, sys admins, db admins, etc.

Bloggers and small time internet marketers will never need the sort of high availability and scalability something like this can provide... it's not meant for them.
