Are you able to use a premium theme purchased from Theme Forest for 2 separate clients, without purchasing the license again?

When you purchase it, you're given all the files..

I'm wondering if they have any sort of tracking on the files and where they are used.

I am curious about that too, subscribed to this thread.

Would be nice if someone would have legit information about that question.

It depends on the theme as a few have track backs, if no serial or code is provided, I assume there is no method of tracking how many installs you have made. Personally I would install and wouldn't worry about it.

I've bought themes from ThemeForest. There is no way of tracking it, but also there is no way of updating it automatically from WordPress dashboard if you don't have the license.

By rule, you cannot use it for two clients.

If you have bought the theme, You will have the license. I think you can get the updated version when new version is released.

There is always a way round if you want to do it even its against the rule.

One theme one website.

Same as serials for softwares.
I think there exist some callback plugin which allow to distributor he can anytime crash his theme.

The license will only work on one website. However, some themes don't require the license to work. You just get automatic updates if you do use it.

When dealing with clients, I'd recommend a seperate license code, i.e. "Buy the theme again". It's more professional like that.

It is one license per domain. If the theme does not require a serial/license key to be entered in the admin, then there is no way to know which domain you purchased your license for and thus no real way to enforce the license. It can, however, still send data back to a central server, but that is a different issue.

If you have paying clients, then I would purchase a second license.

That's wrong! Nowadays wp themes owner start including tracking code on their theme,If you didn't purchase they will ask you to put license cod again and again.

It all depends on the licensing. A lot of them is under the general MIT license (can't remember the exact name now and no time to go find out now...). BUT 95% of the themes I have purchased on Themeforest is under that license. It's pretty extensive, but basically, it comes down to this; You (as a web designer) are allowed to use the Theme for unlimited clients, however, you (or your client) are not allowed to sell the theme as a standalone product. You need to sell your services (web designing) but you are allowed to use the theme as a resource and include it in your work and obviously you need to change all the content and images that come with the theme default. And obviously you can't whitelabel it.

Yes its Completely depend on the theme. But separate themes are best in many ways

No.

Once you download it, you can pretty much use it on as many websites as you want.

Did this question ever get a definitive answer? Would be interested to see what the answer is.
