Wordpress template risk

Hi, I hope to do not break all the rules at once. I found a website where I can get free wordpress premium templates (seems legit). What could I risk installing those templates? If the version has not been made with a framework, could they still trace the template? Or maybe have some kind of backdoor?. Could I check the outgoing connections? I was thinking to test the website on virtualbox (ubuntu server), but I do not know what should I have to do. Thanks Sorry for my english.

Just about all wordpress themes can be found for free on various websites. Ultimately if you choose to use a nulled theme you run the risk of having your site hacked, by either malicious code within the nulled theme or by leaving your site vulnerable to known security exploits due to not being able to upgrade your wordpress installation because of theme incompatibilities.

If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen. I mean you never know, if you are not a security expert, best thing you can do is get WP themes only from reputable sources.

Usually I work with php,html, css and javascript. I should know some basic stuff about networking because I have two Cisco certificates. I got my ubuntu server (virtualbox) on my OSX, with a software firewall "Little snitch" active, I guess I could get some info from that. I have a web hosting service with all my works on and before put some "infected theme", I thought that I might be able to check these "nulled themes". If I have to check all the code, where should I concentrate my attention? Obviously link to other site, something else?
