That right there can be a big part of your problem.
BlueHost is a value hosting company, and your using their cheapest plan. You can't expect much from shared hosting, it is very likely you have other issues as well, but throw that on a good hosting company or even better a VPS if you can afford it and you will see a HUGE improvement.

1. I use wp-super cache which works very well for me
2. You can change the size of your images in photoshop by using the "save for web" feature..i tried to post a youtube link but im too new to do so so just google "how to save for web photoshop" and click on the first youtube video
