What's the difference creating a page and creating a post on a wordpress site?

Why choose one over the other?

If you have a blog page set up, all your posts will appear there. You can assign tags and categories to posts.

Pages are just for regular content, like contact details, or a list of services.

It's all about using the right tool for the job I suppose.

Yes, pages are specific, while post is for everyday uses.

Except you're asking the seo benefits which are pretty different and comes with lots of explanation.

Didn't see the SEO benefit tbh, just the question what's the difference between them :-)
Easiest explanation is probably that a page contains static, general content - like an About Me or Contact page.

Posts are more in the moment and part of a stream of content that, as a whole, dictates the subject of your website :)

Pages are where you put your static info- contact, about us, disclaimer pages, etc... this is stuff you want visible at all times. Posts are dynamic, used mainly for article and reviews....posts may be visible on the home page one day and buried under a bunch of other posts soon after...

Pages and posts are just a WP concept, they have no difference on the WWW.

they have no difference on the WWW.

They have. Because, by default, post can be accessed from archives. Pages don't have archives (by default)

Posts don't have subposts, pages can have.

Posts have category, author, date, tag, etc. archives. Pages - not

I recommended these suggestions

Pages and posts are quietly different in wordpress. Post means a unique thing, But a page may contain many posts or no post or one post or only a page with it's own content. You can generate pages from category too.
