Well it depends on what theme u are using and how is it build. Plus you say u want it in the footer then u say in the sidebar, well they're not the same. If u want a linkable image in the sidebar add a text widget and insert your html code...smth like: <a href="http://LandingPageURL.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://FileURL" /></a> if u want it in the footer add at the end of your footer.php your code. Hope it helps.

go into widgets panel.. add the text box into every possible sidebar widget.
in the first widget put "A". second one put "b" keep going until you fill out all your widgets. now click save, and do a hard refresh on your post page (Ctrl + f5 on firefox)
now look @ your site and you have identified where each widget goes . replace the dummy a-b-c text with links to your ad. @serbyy provided you the code to do it as did i in your last thread...
if you want a banner in your footer you will likely have to edit your code directly since most themes don't put a widget/quick access to that sort of thing. most themes name it 'footer.php'. edit that file. you may have to read a quick guide on html/css/php editing.
if the footer position is too low...you'll have to put it at the bottom of your single-page.php or single-post php file...whatever they name it.

If you're familiar with PHP the last option under themes is Editor....go to the editor and open sidebar.php and you can customize it any way you want using raw PHP.

But I would go the widget way first.
