Wordpress Permalink and backlink question.

I just went through a permalink migration via Deans Permalink migration. My old pages used to look like this... mysite.com/archives/97.
I changed it to mysite.com/post-name.

My question is...

I had a lot of links and link juice pointing and feeding into mysite.com/archives/97. Will those links and link juice still be passed on in the eyes of the search engines?

wow, I know this thread is from way back (2010!) so this response is a bit late lol but in case anyone else stumbles on this:

As long as the URL change is handled with a 301 redirect (which Dean’s Permalink Migration plugin was designed to do), the link equity / “link juice” basically does transfer to the new URL. Google treats a 301 as a permanent move, so those old backlinks should still benefit your updated permalink structure.

That said, over time some value may slightly dilute, but generally it’s minimal and nothing to stress about. The main thing is just making sure the redirects are all clean + not redirecting in chains.

So yeah, if the 301s were set up correctly, your mysite.com/archives/97 links should now be powering your mysite.com/post-name URLs just fine.
