Hello all, i'm interested in making websites and i have been doing it for sometime now, but after scraping data on some local websites most just seem to be done in wordpress.
My question is, is there any point in actually doing the web design yourself when you could just use wordpress? Would there be any reason to do it yourself, and what do you guys prefer? Thanks

Wordpress is your go-to, especially as a new developer/designer.

The CMS that wordpress is has already done most of the heavy lifting for you.

WP any day.

Just go with Wordpress
Seems like 100% of the people that know their stuff are saying wordpress, so i will spend my time learning wordpress. Thank you guys for your time/help

Would you suggest spending a little of my time still learning web development if my intentions is to make money building landing pages etc? Or would you just say spend all your time learning wordpress, thank you guys for your time and responses again :)

You should always broaden your skills if you intend on selling web dev services. Start with HTML/CSS and then migrate to Javascript for functionality.

It absolutely is worth it to make your own design and functionality. Why? Speed!

However, I wouldn’t really go for custom php if I was going to use php. I would use something like laravel or yii framework. But irl I love next.js and I would use that in every project that doesn’t require scaling up the backend too much.

Depends on what kind of websites you want to build. Wanna build a generic website for a service business or an ecommerce store? Go with WordPress. Wanna build a SaaS software or any website with multiple complex features that cannot be designed unless made from scratch? Then learn web development.

Ohh, and if you want it to be a long-term career (not freelancing but job) then go with web development. Have an amazing journey
