Wordpress offline editing

I am pretty lazy/uneducated when it comes to building/coding a website and I want to change that and stop outsourcing web development projects. For obvious reasons wordpress is what I really want to learn.

I have read through quite a bit of info on wordpress and have not done a whole lot of php editing or web development whatsoever. My process is usually come up with an idea pay somebody to build the website and then do all of the SEO on my own which is what I am much better at.

Still have not come across a good starting guide for wordpress. Installing on my server is pretty easy, but actually editing the pages, plugins, themes, etc... I am pretty much completely lost. Uploading the plugins or a good theme is easy (even though I have not found a really good review theme yet).

Could somebody please point me in the right direction of a good thread or ebook for to help me get started as I have an MNS I want to get going ASAP. Whenever I have edited my websites in the past I just do it offline in dreamweaver or basic html editors and just cannot seem to figure out the best way to do this with wordpress.

You would probably need to learn html/css before you go to php. While there are probably ebooks here, I would suggest going to amazon and seeing what they have and then googling an ebook version of something that looks good. Coding a wordpress theme can take some time to learn but it can prove to be very valuable.

I mean if your really passionate about it you might wanna go to school for this kinda stuff that is what i am doing in the fall.

you can use wamp server for localhost sites. install wordpress to wamp and copy your theme and content to your wamp directory.

than you develop anything what you want.
