Wordpress is overated for beginners

It is in fact still underrated even in 2026. There's no other solution that comes close even years later. People who chase perfection right from the get go get stuck with choosing plugins. That is a problem with their approach, not with wordpress as a CMS.

With the current cPanel options and advanced features in your hosting, there's basically nothing one couldn't do with WordPress.
It's much easier and faster to set up the theme and content these days, as opposed to the past, where you had to spend a solid amount of time on the setup.
Of course you should also focus on what the site should be about, and not over-do it with all sorts of add-ons or plugins that may not be necessary for the cause.

WordPress is great. Just that people spend excessive time trying to make their website look great than actually posting useful content on it.
Lots of bloggers polish the car for months but never crank the engine. It’s better to publish on a regular basis than to have a perfect looking site that’s empty.

I get the point, but WordPress only feels overkill if you overthink setup, once its done, it actually makes publishing and scaling content much easier.

wordpress is great i believe we all use it but for me i actual go for a simple design and user friendly design at first for attraction and when i start getting leads i focus more on my website design for more engagement but for my blog consistency is the key for blogs you cant be sure on which topic will make you rank and give you more visibility

If you spend more time on themes and plugins then that's a you problem, not a wp problem. For most people they can go live within hours. from registering a domain to setting up hosting and writing your first blog post.
Wp gives you some level of autonomy over what you can do. If you use or abuse it, then that's your problem.

fully agree with this! I reached a point several years ago when I was logging into my (not even many, only 5 or 6) Wordpress sites few times a day only to update the plugins and theme than to manage content, it was so stupid... I obviously gave up on WP and will never come back to it, especially with the infinite options and settings that each premium theme / builder has, I just don't have time or patience for that crap anymore...

actually designing is one time hardwork, and it's important too because design is the first Expression and contact to visitor.

Not much. I use it to build the initial template of the site to keep it low bloat with a modern design. I prefer using lovable and ditching wp altogether where possible. Lovable has in built seo features now its much better than fucking arround with all the yoast settings imo.

Totally got lost in the sauce the first time I set up WordPress, spent more time fiddling with colors than writing anything. Ended up switching to a basic theme and just focused on posting regularly. If you just pick a simple theme and stick with default plugins, things get way less confusing, plus your site stays fast and tidy.
