WordPress Is Not Free Anymore?

I just tried to create and publish my new WordPress blog (at wordpress.com) with their subdomain '.wordpress.com' and it seems I have to pay for a plan in order to publish it.

I have created several other blogs using their extension "example.wordpress.com" a few days ago. Is this a new update where you have to purchase a plan in order to publish the property?

Pretty sure you just missed the free option. Keep looking.
 
It's Free and always will be. (hopefully)
 
Guys you are missing the point of the thread. OP clearly mentioned hosted wp blogs (i.e. xxx.wordpress.com blogs, not the opensource software).

I think they understand well..

On xxx.wordpress.com is very hard to find a FREE button, they are hiding it very well, and he must missed.
