I have a Wordpress question for you serious SEO experts.
Wordpress has a quirky way of handling media / images / vidoe files. When you add media to a page, upon uploading the media Wordpress automatically created an “attachment page post ” where you can view the image. The “attachment post” is a permanent like to the image. The problem is that this page is also indexed by google.
Example - you post an image with the file name “1234567.png” there will be a corresponding attachment post page called “site-name/1234567.png”
When you add image “1234567.png” to a post called “site-name/you_posted_the_image_to_here/“ google will rank both pages.
how do you disable all media / image / video file “attachment post” pages from the site so google does not index or do you leave them and google can tell which is the proper image page to index?
have you ever had an image “attachment page” out rank a page where the image is posted with content?
