In settings -> permalinks you could do
Or you can use an plugin like Remove Category URL/Yoast SEO should have it too
or use HTACCESS

I don't know how long this little trick has been out for, but I've been using it for at least 4-5 years

I can remember me going all out finding a solution at one point cuz i hated the /category/ URLs
It was worse when I used fully built elementor/page builder templates and they customized the shit outta the templates itself changing alot of the customizable options.
But yeah, sometimes, it's good to throw yourself in a pile of junk to find the gold haha

Go to setting, permalinks. And you can do it easily from there.
