I have a thread here that will sort of explain how I came to this.

    http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...s-images-monetization-help-advice-needed.html

So anyway, point is, I have set all of my Attachment pages to noindex and nofo!!ow.

And now I want to create galleries. Basically, say I review some site, and I have 3 payment proofs for that site. At the moment my posts 1 payment proof image each, and each of those links to photobucket, where people have the ability to click next/previous and see the other 2 payment proofs in that folder.

However, that takes traffic away from my site, and I have no control over the layout or anything over at Photobucket.

So basically, right now each Picture is 1 Attachment post itself. And I wonder, is there a native wordpress.org option to sort of lump a few pictures together in a gallery? Or maybe a plugin I can use? Or I could simply create a new post for every site I have payment proofs for, the set each of those posts individually to be noindex, and upload my payment proofs and then link from my real posts to those galleries?

How should I proceed? Any advice?

    Thanks.

Actually, I'd rather not use a plugin to be honest.

There seems to not be a way to create an attachment page for a gallery. And even if there was, the attachment pages suck because you can't edit them at all. For whatever reason, to insert some extra ads on these pages, or to tell the visitors what is on the page, which for me would be a simple line, like, hey guys, here are my payment proofs for so and so site...

So I think what I'll do is just use posts (set to noindex and nofollow and no sitemap inclusion). Only question is, do I use pages or posts for my galleries...

Any input would be appreciated. I feel some uncertainty about all this, a little...

The nice thing about Attachment pages is that they're all not indexed anyway, that's set from Yoast's plugin.

But using posts or pages for galleries I have to remember to always set each new gallery to have a noindexfollowsitemap tag...

    Why so difficult?! :p

I mean, I could let the galleries be indexed, but I'd rather have people land on my posts and then me linking to my galleries when needed, than to have people land on my galleries.

    Simple question:

For gallery pages, should I use Posts or Pages? Is there a difference? I know for blogger you're allowed like 20 pages max, so I'd go with posts if I had such an issue, but with wordpress.org I'm not sure about the amount of pages I can create, not that I really use them anyway.

    Actually.....

I'll use Pages. From what I read the limit on pages for wordpress (if there even is one) must be pretty high, so I'll never reach it. Again, if there is one.

Also, I never use my pages. For my nav bar and stuff I use Categories, not pages. The only 3 Pages my website has are Contact us, privacy and archives. So there's room there.

And by room I mean that if I create the galleries as posts, then on the wordpress dashboard on All Posts I'll see the galleries posts mixed with regular posts, and that will be a bit confusing and annoying, but if I create the galleries as pages, then I can see them separately on the All Pages part of wordpress, and keep great organization :D

Yeah, that shall be done haha

And actually, I just checked my site's Yoast settings, and my pages do get indexed. But then I checked my existing 3 pages and individually I've changed them:

Contact us and Privacy Pages as noindex/nofo!!ow.
Archive Page as noindex/do follow (because I want the crawlers to crawl through the archives page if they land on it and hopefully continue to my other posts through the links found there).

Now, for the sitemap they're all set as "Auto detect," but I checked my sitemap and these 3 pages are not included in there. In fact, only my homepage is included in the pages sitemap.

Well anyway, I guess I'll set the default for pages to be NoIndex and NoFo!!ow, and then I'll go to my Archives page and set that to DoFo!!ow manually. And that should be it, then I can create my galleries as pages feeling confident that those posts won't be indexed or followed, and my pictures are safely stored on my website instead of Photobucket...

That just leaves the Sitemap... I'm not sure if these galleries/pages will be included in the sitemap. And if they are included, does it matter? Since they'll have a noindex/nofo!!ow tag applied to them...

I'm writing this as a note to self:

    1. Go through all Media pages and fix existing pictures - correct URLs/Titles/Alt Tags/Descriptions/Re-upload pictures that are in GIF format into JPG format/re-upload pictures that aren't watermarked/re-upload pictures who's image filename wasn't correctly optimized when it was uploaded (unless I can edit that without re-uploading).

    2. Upload all of the Payment Proofs I haven't uploaded yet (watermark them beforehand).

    3. Create Gallery Pages for All the websites I have reviewed so far, and include their payment proofs in them nicely.

    4. Ensure all Gallery Pages have nice titles and descriptions and stuff.

    5. Change the linking from my individual posts pictures to redirect to my site's galleries, instead of the Photobucket galleries where they're redirecting to now.

    6. Monetize Gallery Pages specifically differently than the other pages. Meaning, just something very basic, like Adfly popups or maybe a CPM network or something.

    7. Check - by viewing page source - that the new galleries I'm creating have a noindex/nofo!!ow tag applied to them.

    8. Check if the galleries are included in the sitemap, and if they are, figure out if I should stop them from being included in the sitemap or not.

    9. Done? Maybe... we'll see how it goes...

Number 1 has been completed for existing pictures. Now I just have to upload all the rest of them... and there shouldn't be any problems from this point on for my first task.

Now, I know that the image/attachment pages won't be indexed (the images themselves still will), and the traffic to the attachment pages will be only whatever I send to them, mostly, but I still want to make everything correct, with keywords, correct grammar, etc. For the visitors mostly, and just in case for any crawlers or whatever that may end up there...

I checked with Google now, and my images, when a user clicks on visit site, they will take him to the post the image is tied to, not the attachment page, which is great. I wasn't sure about how this works until now...

I know, I know, nobody is responding, I'm just talking to myself.

But I'll continue, because it keeps me on track, and I'm sure there's info I'm putting out that someone will find helpful, or at least food for thought...

    Anyway, moving on...

    Okay, I finished everything.

The extra monetization for step 6, I figured, since these payment proofs are mostly from PTC and Captcha sites, I'll monetize with those. So in every gallery I created, every couple of payment screenshots I put a little PTC/GPT shrinked with adf!y referral banner.

I may look into putting some popups on those specific pages too, but I won't do it for now.

All that's left to do is to go change some links I have on this other blog - which are pointing to photobucket right now - to point back to my website's galleries.

So by doing all these things, photobucket becomes unnecessary for my site anymore, which is awesome. And most importantly, no traffic of mine is going to be sent to photobucket from now on, so it's going to be kept around on my website longer, and hopefully monetized effectively.

As far as the sitemap goes, my new Gallery Pages are in it, but they aren't being indexed, I checked on Google and Yahoo. I'm not 100% sure if having those galleries on my sitemap, but not getting indexed, could somehow harm my site in the search engines??

I don't see why it would, so I have left them included in the sitemap for now. And one of the reason I did that is because there are pictures that I do want indexed, so maybe it will put some more weight on my pictures being in there for their better indexation. I mean, those same pictures can be found on my attachment posts, which are also not being indexed, but maybe having the pictures in both places could help them with getting noticed, and it shouldn't harm me in any way, since the attachment and gallery pages aren't being indexed.

If anyone has anything to say about the sitemap inclusion of my Galleries thing, do tell?

    That's it for now...
