wordpress help

I have a problem in wordpress, i tried to google the solution, but couldnt however i found someone who had the same problem as me, and he explained it pretty well so here is a copy.
PLease let me know if you know how to fix this

I have a blog with multiple authors, some who aren't systematic in the way they select (child) sub-categories when posting
So for example, a (parent) category and sub-cats is set up like this:
Reviews
- film
- books
- art
When an author writes a book review, they should check both Reviews and books.
Is it possible to set things up that if books is checked, Reviews get checked to automatically? So basically I'm asking, if a child gets selected, the parent gets selected too.
Also, it is possible that if a non-default category is checked, the default category gets un-checked

I think that by selecting both parent and child you are creating copies of your posts. This will create issues of duplicate content. Try that and see if that actually happens. If yes, you have to stop selecting both. In theory you do not need to select both as when you click on Reviews link- it's just a page with all articles under the child categories. It'll list them regardless of whether you select Reviews.
