I'm basically new to this whole Wordpress shizznit because I'm used to just designing but now my programmer's bitchin out on me so I'm trying to fuck around with themes and get a feel for this.
I downloaded a theme from BHW to eff with but I'm baffled.
Basically, how do I make the homepage a static page? I've tried the whole Settings--Reading thing, but everytime I click static page, it just reverts back to latest posts?
Secondly, how do I get rid of the sidebar to make it a whole page?

I would be glad to help you on this, but instead I'm gonna advise you to use google.
Check there and you will find millions of answers to your WP issues.

Since you are fairly new to WP, you will have too many question about it, but if you search on G, you will find everything.
I'll try to grab a PLR somewhere to send you with Wordpress tuts.

I've tried Googling this issue though, but it never comes up and their advice doesn't help. Everyone just suggests to change the settings in Reading.

I know this is really noobish of me, and I hate people that do this too but I'd really appreciate it if someone could just give me a straightforward solution. Besides, this site isn't a final site, this is my way of learning to use Wordpress.

  1. Go to Administration > Settings > Reading panel.
    Reading panel
    1. Set 'Front page displays:' to 'a static page' and choose the first page you created above for 'Front page.' If your WordPress site will contain a blog section, set 'Posts page' to the page you created for this above. Otherwise, leave this blank.
    2. Save changes.

Code:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_a_Static_Front_Page

That's what I'm saying, I've done that but it keeps going back to 'latest posts' when I click Save Changes :/

There's some sort of issue on the code so any WP gurus out there that can help me out?

You probably need to change your theme and to change your passwords.

any chance there's a php head in here? I used the forum and got blanked after leaving my thread up for a week..

You can easely do this by going to themes > Edit template and you will get a preview on the right and on the left a tab, the last option allows you to change Static Page etc. etc.

Hope it helped, if not make sure to PM me

Hi,

Just first decide what page will be for your blog posts. Say My Blah..blah..bla. Then make a page, call it Home and publish.... Then go to settings and set static page for Home and blah blah for post.

thats it.

Cheers hoaxx
