Hi guys,

I am trying to find out if there is anyway to create a Word Press blog that can be used by unlimited people.

I understand that a blog with many posts can -over a period of time- become an "authority site".

I'd like to be able to set up a Word Press blog with all the plugins needed so it can be monetized not only by me but by other people (team members).

so I'll have"mysite.com" and then people will have a site like "mysite.com/john"

The idea behind is that if we are let's say 20 marketers blogging every day, it will rank quicker and higher in Google that if it's a simple blog with 2 or 3 posts a week.

In a nutshell, I am trying to see how simple or difficult it would be to create a site like the "empower network" (I am not affiliated with them btw) which value

lays in their blogging platform mainly.

I hope this makes sense

Thanks! :)

Hi guys,

thanks for the replies so far. I am checking the info to see if I can accomplish what I am aiming to do, Thanks! :)

...as i was/am recently looking for a way to realize something that needs similar features for an project of ours i ran across:
http://www.buddypress.org/

...as i do not know the exact (and don`t need to) features you want or need, the above links are a good direction as you might want to use multisite. depending on what you need.
buddypress is basically a WP-Plug-In designed for "social networking". kind of an enhanced multisite-sibling with some pretty nice features.

as we were considering WP as a plattform also and i thought about multisite i really liked what buddypress can do after a little research. i would definetly recommend to read up on it a little and check the possibilities it gives you.
i do not know where i put the links right now - but there is a nice community around it which helped me (by reading along only) a lot on getting a better overview about making a decision.

i will post them if i get em...

cheers.

alright...
...these two i found to be pretty informative and useful to get an overview about what is possible.

i really got to like wpmu.org (and:noooo - nothing to do with em) as it covers basically WP, Multisite, Buddypress etc. in one place. pretty good resource if you are about to work with WP.

hope this helped you.

Hi Halilovic,

thanks for your time explaining those sites, I'll check them out.

The best way to describe what I'd like to do is to have a blogging platform like the empower network, but owning the site of course... :)

I spent ages searching with no luck, so thanks everybody again for the input :)

no problem...

...i think you are good to go with either multisite or buddypress. your choice then will depend on the features you need/or you want to have. but with a little research you should be able to make a decision which fits your needs the most and which one would serve them best, most stable, easiest etc.

...i didn`t really research multisite that far as i ran across buddypress within the research - and i liked the features buddypress serves a little more.

maybe this would be an interesting read for you too...

...as i tend to somewhat sound like buddypress-salesman i may want to put another option on the table to balance it out again ;)
...you can even combine multisite and buddypress i you want. so using either one of the two or both in one. should be what you are looking for.
