wordpress help for noob

i want to start a blog, and i have decided wordpress is best to use. i wanted to know what is the best way about going by this.
i see there are two methods wordpress dot com website where u basically have it on there servers and on the wordpress dot org website where u can download the files, and host them yourself.

since i am new and just starting i feel like the dot com website would be best, but i was wondering what are the pros/cons of the other method

one ot the site is the download for wordpress, the other is where you could get a free wordpress blog, but a free wordpress blogg isnt anythig that you could earn money from, of course you could use it to try it out and play around whit. get the download and install it on a own domain for complete freedom

As a user of both .com and .org (self-hosted) wordpress, I would say that it is better to get a self-hosted wordpress installed and running on your own domain. You have better control of themes, plugins etc that you want to use. Besides, most web hosts allow easy installation of wordpress with just a few clicks.

Use your own web space und your own domain. It's always better to control things yourself, also it can be an advantage for some SEO aspects, like loading speed of the site.

Definitely host your own site. It has several advantages like others mentioned above, and also if you don't host it yourself, they can take it down any time they want.
First you should purchase a domain. For domain registrar I can honestly recommend namecheap, just google them.
For hosting I can recommend either Hostgator or Namecheap's hosting. (Also, they both have an application which can install wordpress for you in a few clicks. )
Then configure nameservers, install wordpress, select a nice theme, and you are ready to go.
