I have just done 3 wordpress sites, 2 using Reviewazon the other Ebay Epn links to relevant products.
If the site is just these will it get slapped from Google?
How essential is it to have new content regularly to keep it in the google rankings?

If you try to run a site with only epn/amazon links, you probably wont have much luck. Google seems to abhor epn links, and affiliate links in general.

I run epn rss feeds on a few sites and the majority of my traffic comes from yahoo/bing for those pages. On other parts of the same sites without epn links, i rank on the first page for quite a few different keywords/phrases.

If you're going to use epn links on a page, or any affiliate links for that matter, it's always best to fill those pages up with great relevant content. Otherwise, at least in my experience, you'll rarely see any google traffic.

Fresh content will keep the spiders coming to your page more frequently and increase your search engine traffic.
These types of store sites generally do better if you add articles or other content along with it.
This is why WP-Robot works well from what I've seen. Even though all the content you're pulling is not unique, it still puts together a content rich site.

Ideally take money earned from sales and buy a few articles a week to post related to the niche. Back linking is also very important for building search rankings.

Content rich is what you want as already said rather than just pure epn/amazon links but I'm also currently following Shezboy's strategy with great interest

Are you talking about Wp.com or WP hosted on your own domain?
