I am building a big wordpress blog that will host more that 2 million posts, can wordpress handle so many posts?

My website is a business directory, and posts may reach10 millions.!

How can I handle this big site with wordpress, any ideas?

I ask about: tips for handling more than 1G database, plugins that can handle large databases.

My hosting is 4G ram VPS with 200M Uplink from serermania. and i can upgrade to dedicated hosting if needed

Please advice me.

thanks

for anyone will read this topic,
after searching hours and hours, I found that wordpress cannot handle million of posts , and poples who tried to make large sites with wordpress, thier sites failed and dropped due to large database requests and that needs very high performance hosting that will cost $$$ and still page load will be very high due to too many database requests , however with low weight CMS like proccesswire you can make million of posts in any regular VPS hosting.

the main issuw with wp that it stored all fields in just one table (wp-posts)
howver professional CMS store each field in separated table and that will low number of requests.

but i found a great resource for optimizing wp speed
http://code.tutsplus.com/tutorials/optimizing-wordpress-with-varnish-and-w3-total-cache--cms-21136
hope that will be useful for peoples who read my topic.

thanks BHW

Good luck with that on those specs, boss.

mmmm yeah i guess wordpress can handle it,mmmm but something wrong with your spec ,did you typo?

for sure you must have a powerful hosting, and i believe you will need to change some default settings of php and mysql.
please update this thread when you find a solution , i would like to know as well.

Wordpress can handle anything, but as others have said you may need to tweak and have large hosting space. Why are you aiming for so much?

That seems like an awful lot to me. I am sure that wordpress can handle it, but like others have said, why so high?

about hosting, I can upgrade anytime if needed.
I'm asking about handling more than 1G database, and lot of resources that will be requested by million of posts....wordpress can handle that or should I need another professional CMS that can handle that site?

the site will be business directory for 10 million US businesses.
thanks

Okay, not going to talk about the other directories...
10M US business? I don't think handling it by one server in one database is enough.
I would suggest to speak to your hoster about that. Research your competition.

Wordpress is great, but I'd say you might be pushing it here. Even if you have a ton of resources, your load time will increase as the database gets bigger.

I recently had to migrate a site with around 4000 woocommerce products. The database was almost 2gb in size and the site was already slow as hell.

I love this solution, so how to devide database to small segments? and connect them to only one wp panel?
