Wordpress Embedded Images - What to link to? Image, Attachment Page Custom URL?

When you use an image in a post or page in WP, you have a choice for the link from the image, what it links to, the image file, the attachment page or a custom URL. Are there any SEO concerns in making a choice? If so, what is the best choice? Why?

I am not asking about how to use the image for SEO purposes, alt text etc.

Hi @MTUser2010,

I don't understand your question. Can you clarify what it is you really want to know?

When you add an image in WP you have "Image Details" menu. Under Display Settings, you can select,"media file," "attachment page," "custom URL," or "none." I was just wondering if any of those choices helps your SEO best? I usually select media file. But, if it would help me to select something else, I'd do that. If it makes zero difference, I'd like to know that too.
