Spam comments are harmful to your blog's reputation and SEO. So, you've try to do comments should be keep approved by you to avoid spam commenting. And also, you can remove spam comments in bulk by using plugin.

Yes, that too good idea.
Manually approve all comments.
Then go to Setting>>Discussion and start adding to the "Disallowed Comment Keys"
You can also add domains to that list to block out spammy email addresses.
It sounds like a lot of work but you start adding some of the most common spam words and you amount of spam you get will plummet in just a few days.

It sounds like a lot of work. Probably a target for spammers.
