Yes, if you do not want them indexed. If you publish them, Google might index them. You can also publish them and tell Google to not index them, can be made easy with most SEO plugins. If it is many articles I would set them unpublished and then add a publish date for each one so they publish on scheduled dates to not publish all at the same time.
