So I was messing around with the single.php editor a few hours ago trying to find the perfect spot for Adsense. I wanted to make sure that every post has the Adsense links on it.

Until, the dashboard became painfully slow. Saving and clicking on links in the dashboard slowed down almost to a hilt. I also checked the site itself, clicked on a few links, and the same thing applies. It takes a long time to load!

I save a copy of the single.php file on a notepad just in case I screw up so I just saved it back in. Adsense links are now gone. But it's still slow!

What seems to be the problem? I'm not sure if it's related to what I've been doing because it's still slow even if I returned everything to normal.

Appreciate any help!

Which plugins are installed/activated there?

Wordpress is just really slow, especially if you have it on a shared host that may be overloaded. The solution is to ask your ISP what's going on. :)

If you are on a shared account that gives you ssh access you can log in and run the "uptime" or "top" commands to get a rough idea of the server load.

If you have access to the server or WHM try to restart apache and see if that helps.

Thanks for all the suggestions. But I checked again today and everything's fine. So I guess it's a minor hiccup.

server issue - ask your host to reboot and check whether if they are doing some maintainence. Also check for error log - disable plugins one by one and find out whether the site and dashboard loads quick. If you really can't solve, DM for help, I ll help out free :)

get rid of that host.
buy one from hostgator or stablehost

I explored moving to namecheap but it said that the site needs to be 60 weeks old. I'll move as soon as I hit 60 weeks.

How about for hosting?

Install only the most effective and most used plugins. Disable all the rest. Hope this helps.
