Wordpress article indexing question

If an article written using the wordpress platform gets indexed and after a while, maybe a few weeks, the writer decides to edit that particular article (edits made to the main body text) will the indexing of that article be affected in any way?

The article is re-read and re-indexed by google bot when it checks your website after the edit. Untill that period the unedited (old) article is indexed.
