Not sure if the correct forum thread, so excuse me if I should have posted it somewhere else.
I have spent hours trying to fix a 403 persistent error that seems to only occur while using only the Brave browser not Chrome or Firefox. I believe this has something to do with SSL certificates, self signed not registered and paid for. Has anyone else experienced this? As you are aware a few years ago http versus https used to be a non-issue with browsers, then the SSL thing came in and forced pages to use SSL even though no transactions occurred. I searched a bunch of help websites and have become stuck somewhat as what to look at to troubleshoot further, and not sure where in the chain lies the issue- I tested it and it occurs without using a VPN and with a VPN.
I have several sites all running wordpress on (2) separate hosts using Linux Apache cPanels with auto ssl certificates and attempting to viewing any of them using an Android device running Brave refuses to resolve and keeps getting a 403 error.
Sometimes the sites will resolve once, then a second attempt a minute later a 403 occurs. Sometimes the site will resolve the home page, then clicking a second time on an internal page link the same 403 error occurs. Firefox however does not have this 403 error and the Auto SSL is recognized, but I had to use some code in htaccess to force the http to https and it fixed the stupid warning screen error on both html parking pages and wordpress.
But Brave is stubborn, and the 403 keeps occurring. I tried many of the Brave settings to enable all cookies, popup's and just about every setting to no avail. Yet Brave running on a Linux system has no problem at all nor does Firefox so it makes me think this has to do with this Android version of Brave.
I looked at the cPanel server log on one host and noticed an "Immunify360- apache" error "suspicious activity" but cannot see anything specific. The error was logged and was my own IP and all I did was click on one link that was inside of my wordpress database.
So if anybody has seen this before or has wordpress, cPanel, DNS, SSL or Linux Apache server knowledge could suggest where to look to troubleshoot this, I'd appreciate it.
