Hello,

simple question, but I don't seem to find a clear answer: can I make a wordpress blog (a blog I don't own, a blog hosted on wordpress), make content (several articles), and put only one banner for a product/service/site ?

It seems ads are forbidden on wordpress blog, but I'm not sure. And if it's really forbidden, what happens ? Blog is closed ?

Thanks

I am not sure about that, but you can register your domain under $10 and you have as much banners as you want to :)

It's best to have your own domain for doing anything as you wish. I am not sure how many banners are allotted on WordPress site, but get a domain with great hosting provider.

Thanks for the answers.

I know, but i'm using IFTTT, and it works with wordpress (or blogger).

You are right. Did it. Found that:

[h=2]Affiliate Links[/h] Most affiliate links for reputable merchants are welcome on WordPress.com. Feel free to post relevant affiliate links when blogging about books you're reading, music you love, clothes that strike your fancy, gadgets you're drooling over, or whatever is of interest to you and your readers.

We hope affiliate programs help you earn a financial reward for all the hard work you've invested in your blog. However, because we're dedicated to keeping unwanted commercial messages from cluttering the WordPress.com experience, there are some restrictions in place that you should be aware of.

  • Sites whose primary purpose is to drive traffic to affiliate storefronts, rather than creating original content, will be banned as spam. Promoting affiliate links through comments or the support forums is also considered spam. Such activity is a violation of our Terms of Service.
  • We do not allow banner image advertising or the use of advertising networks. If you're interested in making money from this type of ad, check out our WordAds program. You can read more about our advertising policies here.
  • Affiliate ads for gambling, get-rich-quick schemes, multi-level marketing programs, disreputable merchants, or pornography are prohibited.

So, it seems that is a big NO.

So now, other question: do you put banner on your wordpress blog and does wordpress really care ? I don't mean put ads everywhere, just a small banner at the top for a product with (of course) my affiliate link.

Thanks

"We do not allow banner image advertising or the use of advertising networks." - Wordpress.com . I guess, that's it.
