Recently had a blog hosted on Blogger (started 3+ weeks ago), changed it over last night to a new WordPress server. I have been working to smooth our all the wrinkles and think I have the site pretty much the way I like it. While the main focus of the site isn't for monetary purposes, I wouldn't mind it making some money for me. I receive 100+ unique organic targeted visitors a day

I added a Kontera inline text ads and they removed them after around 24H, saying that the site timed out (due to my switching domain names I believe). I have since contacted them to get the ads placed back. I added AdBrite late last night, and they have yet to appear. I have not attempted to ad AdSense yet, however, that is due to the fact that I don't know where to place them.

Any suggestions on how I can further make money from this site would be great. I don't want to run the site ramped with ads, so I have to pay careful attention to the placement and selection of ads.

Why be scared of ads? They make the site look more "full" and professional and are Ok if they are relevant to your readers.

Why not want to make money????

A few things I am doing with a WP site I am working on right now is:
1. Doing product reviews on affiliate products and promoting them to my list.
2. Offer paid advertising spots so you get money each month no matter what.
3. Promote some Incentivised CPA offers

Are you capturing emails and building a list?

I tried the Amazon affiliate links on my Blogger account, but saw no results at all (not even a little). I figure that these days, people are too paranoid to purchase from a link on a site (cc fraud, etc) and just google or go to the site directly.

What programs are you using for affiliates and CPA offers? How are the results? I do have a feature quite a few product reviews, so I could potentially insert some links there.

As for the emails - what could I do with captured emails? How would I go about capturing them (any good plugins, etc)?

Captured emails are a gold mine if done right. You could write them once a week and promote a product to them. There are tons of things you can/should do. Do some searching..otherwise I would be typing here all day lol

A great email opt in form plugin for WP is "G-lock Double Opt In". Its free too and is awesome. I use it on my sites.

Right now I get my advertisers from Amazon, Commission Junction, CCBill and private affiliate programs. You can do as good as you want..you just have to actually promote them. NOt just put them on your site and hope to bring in sales.

Thanks for the advice, I'll try to start working on it.

Anyone else have any input?

For just regular Adsense ads, I suggest making one tower ad to go in your widget, and text link ads to put in your posts.

For example, my blog that isn't aimed at profit.

I use a plugin for my ad units. So you can just write [ad] and it inserts your default ad for articles.
