My personal favorite CMS and Blogging framework is releasing its 3.0 version soon, Beta is out now.

Im a big WP user, and pretty much use it on every site development i can, just because it can do a lot more than people realize, its moved far beyond the simple blogging framework that it started out to be, and now with this release, i really think that a lot more people will adopt WP as their CMS of choice.

With this release of WP, i think the biggest change is the intergration of MU in the core. MU used to be a seperate release from the regular WP, and allowed the creation of multiple blogs created in one instalation of WP, its great for building blog farms etc. Now its going to be in the core release of WP, be sure to check it out.

Custom Post types is another major release. Now you don't have to hack up the CMS to have different type of posts, its intergrated right into the CMS. This is not a replacement of categories, just a better way to handle posts of a different type.

WOOTHEME custon navigation. I was a big fan of WOO's navigation system, but when i didn't want to use it, or couldnt, i used a plugin called pagemash. Maybe this will replace the need to have that extra plugin, maybe not.

New Default theme. The default theme has been th default since before i can remember, but now, if you can not be arse to change it or re-skin yourself, at least your theme looks OK.

There are a few other new features, and some great upgrades from previous versions, but i thought these were the best ones that BHW members should be aware of.

Im testing out the beta of 3.0 at the moment on my dev box, im checking out if all the plugins i use for BH are still supported, so if there is any plugins you're worried will not work and can not be bothered to check yourself, let me know, and if i have a copy of the plugin, ill let you know if it works. Also if you have any questions about Wordpress 3.0 in particular, ill be happy to answer them.

THIS IS NOT A SERVICE FOR SALE, SIMPLY AN OFFER OF KNOWLEDGE.

    Thanks for the info mate!

Have you checked out WP-Robot? Use that as well as platinum-seo-pack / headspace 2 together with the google-sitemap-generator All are pretty standard so i'm guessing they should be fine.

    Cheers

Wp 3.0 should be very cool. I love how this platform is evolving... seems to be leaving the competition well behind.

Here's a link to the new default theme:
    Code:
    http://www.wpexplorer.com/twenty-ten-wordpress-theme.html
It comes pre loaded with multiple banner sets making it easy to get a good looking site together right out the gate.

WP Robot 2.0 is working good, hopefully we'll see an upgrade soon to use some of the new features of 3.0, something to do with the custom post field would be cool.

    google sitemap generator works fine.

don't use headspace or platinum-seo, will get ahold of copies to check them out tonight.

Is install fairly easy like typical WP install?

Yes, MU is intergrated. Install is the same as before, a few changes in that you can change the Admin username etc, but other than that, as simple as every other wordpress install.

    Hey,

Great post mate, I'm a wordpress lover myself but didnt had the time to check all the 3.0 improvements ..

What do you mean by custom post types ? CMS-like panels ? Like what you can do with flutter / magic fields ? Out of the box ? That would be great !

I would like to know if wprobot will be supported too !

...I've had auto WP uPgrades take out 3 blogs in the past...so I'm always weary of anything new from WP...without gettin in your business...would you be able to make sorta a checklist of the plugs that you know through your testing work with the new WP issue...

    TIA

Check this link for the custom post info --
    http://kovshenin.com/archives/custom-post-types-in-wordpress-3-0/

Yes, WpRobot 2.0 seems to be working fine.

    @MrFeetz -- I have checked the following plugins --

    WPROBOT 2.0 -- works fine
    All-In-One-SEO -- Fine
    Autoblogged -- fine
    contact-form-7 -- fine
    advertising-manager - fine
    open-in-new-window -- fine
    sitemap generator -- fine
    sexybookmarks -- fine
    wp-greet-box -- fine

If there is a particular plugin you'd like me to check, you can PM me and if i have it, i will check it for you.

Remember, this is the first beta, and obviously not all the new features are there yet, i will continue to update y'all as i test, beta 2 is due out soon so i'll get to test out the custom menu's properly.

If people are interested, i can knock up a free E-book on release, running through all the new features and how best to maybe use them for autoblogging / blackhat. If no one has ever used WPMU, i could include something about blog farms.

That would be really great. Especially on how to leverage the new MU integration for maximum SEO benefit

mind explaining this more in details from your test? i mean, does this mean every WP installation is a WPMU unless the admin decides to disable it? (maybe i'm dreaming ... haha)

edit: I think I found the answer
    http://codex.wordpress.org/User:Andrea/Create_A_Network
So, basically it will be just much easier to have a wpmu and it will have a better support and more often upgrades because the core is all together, but still someone must want to have a wpmu and do some steps to set it up
