I was playing around with heaps of themes until I came across a blogger who just didn't give a damn about looks. His website is john(.)do and gets around 100k hits a month. I've seen other websites with ad implementation and the way it handles them (with ad injector plugin I'm assuming) looks alright.
Plus it's damn fast! So I just started using the same them for my blog. The theme is Twenty Sixteen.

Hahaha I'm not sure if you're trolling?
You can find lots of themes if you look up "Wordpress Themes 2016" on google. You can really customize themes a lot if you want it to look different. Most new themes are responsive, it's futile to make any that aren't.
