Word count.

There are several SEOs who have tested article length and 1,300 words is the sweet spot. Like someone else said, if the top ten all have 3000 words you really should be closer to that number. If you are writing a general article with less competition like, how to get gum off the bottom of your shoes, 1,300 words is what I would do.

1500+ words for main pages on money site would be ideal

Case 1
People looking for specific service. 200 words can do the job. From this 200-post create a couple of long 1200-2000 widening the subject.

Case 2
People looking for lets say: US Civil War.

Then you better pick up 4-5 long tail KW and write some 2-3 3000k plus a lot of media to illustrate It.

1500-2500 words article is Standard.

No it is not and its not needed to rank for the terms you are shooting for. Correlation does not imply causality. Just because long articles rank more often than short ones, does not mean that length caused rank increases. Long articles might just get linked more often. There is one distinct advantage to long articles though...that is...a higher longtail potential. If you've had a few websites before, you will know that longtail traffic makes or breaks a site. Ranking for headterms is nice but big articles can garner more longtails by allowing for more phrase/word combinations.

I think that it is important to get away from a specific word count and just try and focusing on covering the topic as in-depth as possible and improving on what is already out there. If you can do it in 800 words, then no problem. I often see articles around 2000 words where you can tell that the author has been aiming for this number of words and its either gone over the same stuff, or is just waffling on.

Most important thing is the quality of content. Make 1500-2000 words high-quality content, it will definitely help you.

You can tell when an author writes to a number - the article gets terrible towards the end! Write articles that adequately answer the search query since that is what Google wants.

All my articles are over 1,000 words. Most are over 2,000. A few are 5,000-7,000 word monsters.

1500-2000 Words is good for articles .but Quality of writing, not quantity, is what counts. Just be sure to avoid wordiness .

google and other search engines always obey real and long worthy data but these day as per mine for google content is not more worthy

The best "seo content" is an article thoroughly researched and written for readers. The volume should be just enough to cover the readers' needs.

Use that as your guidelines and you won't ever be wrong.

The saying "quality over quantity" doesn't really match this situation.
Google wants quality AND quantity.
As long as you're around the 2000 word mark, it's more than enough. Of course it also depends on what you're writing about.

When we talk about the amount of words, we can think that it is fine for a blog post, but what if it is for the house of an electronic commerce? The number of words also influences because, otherwise, we will convert the home into a very long text. What you think?

It's not about word count. It's all about covering the topic and answering the questions for your reader. Now if would take 5k-10k+ words you should go for it. If it's cover within 500 words that's fine. Don't think for Google bot, work for the visitors. :-) :-)

this is everything i wanted to say, plus the attention span of humans is decreasing everyday, nowadays metadata about search results are more important than ever because people prefer to read that, than clickthrough to the full article. people are even tweaking their search queries so it can be answered in a sentence at most, afaik longer articles help with keyword stuffing but also present a tidy package for your competitors to steal from.

i dont mean to generalize either, some niches require a longer word count than others, but the important question to ask yourself is, what is the reader searching for?

I think this is key.

But also think about your target audience and the arena you're posting to. If it's blogs then elaborating on a topic would be a great idea. And having an open comment section is also valuable for feedback.

If it's twitter or linked in, or fb then you have to shorten your post to cater for the scrolling generation.
